inDrive Intercity Service Grows 4x as More Pakistanis Travel Between Cities

Intercity travel in Pakistan is on the rise, and so is inDrive. The mobility platform has recorded a 400% year-on-year growth in its City-to-City ride service, with routes like Lahore to Islamabad, Lahore to Gujranwala, and Karachi to Hyderabad seeing the highest number of bookings.

Trips to smaller cities including Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, and Mardan are also growing steadily, while summer travel to tourist spots like Murree has jumped by 75% between April and June.

According to inDrive, Fridays to Sundays are the busiest for intercity bookings, mainly due to weekend plans and family trips.

For drivers, this surge in demand has translated into significant earnings—especially on high-traffic routes. Some top-performing drivers on the Lahore–Islamabad corridor are now earning between PKR 300,000 to 350,000 monthly, even after fuel and other costs.

A key factor behind inDrive’s growth is its door-to-door ridesharing model. Unlike public transport, passengers only pay for their seat and can share the ride with others—no stations, no delays. The system offers more comfort and control over timing and route.

inDrive uses a smart matching algorithm that helps drivers connect with up to four passengers per trip, making rides more efficient. Drivers already en route are also prioritized for new ride requests, allowing them to complete more trips with ease.

inDrive stands out by letting passengers and drivers negotiate fares directly, making pricing more transparent and fair. Depending on route length, most drivers complete 2–4 intercity rides per day.

Beyond numbers, inDrive’s model has created new economic opportunities for drivers, especially those seeking flexible work or a second income. Its low-cost entry system and peer-to-peer pricing allow anyone with a car to earn on their own terms.
