TikTok Deletes Nearly 25 Million Pakistani Videos in Early 2025 Crackdown

In a continued push to keep its platform safe and compliant, TikTok removed nearly 25 million videos from Pakistan in just the first quarter of 2025. The numbers come from the company’s latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, which covers content actions between January and March this year.

According to the report, a total of 24,954,128 videos were taken down for violating community guidelines. The majority were removed before anyone even reported them, with TikTok achieving a 99.4% proactive removal rate in Pakistan. Even more impressively, 95.8% of these videos were deleted within the first 24 hours of being uploaded.

TikTok’s moderation wasn’t limited to Pakistan. Globally, the platform took action on approximately 211 million videos, which amounts to about 0.9% of all uploads during the quarter. Of these, 184 million+ videos were flagged and removed using automated detection tools.

Interestingly, not all decisions were final — over 7.5 million videos were reinstated after human review, showing TikTok’s layered approach to content moderation that includes both AI and manual oversight.

The report outlines the most common reasons behind content removal:

  • 30.1% contained sensitive or mature themes

  • 45.5% were flagged for spreading misinformation

  • 15.6% violated privacy or security policies

  • 11.5% involved safety or harassment issues

  • 13.8% used edited or AI-generated media in misleading ways

These insights highlight TikTok’s growing concern over AI-manipulated content and fake news — both of which have surged globally in recent months.

In a statement, TikTok reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and user safety, explaining that its quarterly enforcement reports are designed to give regulators, researchers, and the public a clear picture of how its content moderation works.

The full Q1 2025 report is now live on TikTok’s Transparency Centre, accessible in both English and Urdu, where users can also learn more about reporting tools and the platform’s evolving community guidelines.
