The veteran actor, Asif Raza Mir is all set to star in the TV series “Gangs Of London” and will be playing the role of Asif Afridi, a Pakistani gang leader engaged in the fight to run the city. The announcement was made by Asif Raza Mir’s wife on her Instagram profile, where she posted a small clip of the official trailer:
The series is created and directed by award-winning filmmaker, Gareth Evans. The series is based on the game of the same title, it is the story of the ultimate power struggle in an ambition of different gangs and mafias to become the most powerful and take control of the city.
Gareth Evans has previously created “The Raid” and “The Raid 2”, which won him wide recognition and accolades.
While talking to media, Mir spoke about how he got the role when “auditions for this character opened in 2018 by the production/casting company.” Sharing his experience, Mir said: “it was great working with a multicultural cast, creative and visionary director and an efficient and grand production.”
The series is set to air all nine episodes in the UK on April 23rd on Atlantic and in the US on Cinemax.
Speaking about the different characters and diversity of the show, Evans said,: “I feel like we’ve got a number of characters across this show that the moral ambiguity plays out over the course of each episode in ways that will surprise the audience.”
Already being dubbed as modern-day Peaky Blinders, the show also stars Joe Cole, Sope Dirisu, Michelle Fairley and Lucian Msamati.
