Google has been actively backing Pakistan by granting scholarships to aspiring individuals who want to acquire sought-after digital skills. These scholarships enable students to enroll in courses offered by the Google Career Certificates (GCC) program, which was introduced a few years ago. In an exciting development, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Tech Valley, Google’s education partner in Pakistan, have joined forces to offer Google Scholarships at no cost. These scholarships focus on career certifications and will be accessible through the online learning platform, Coursera.
The Google Career Certification Scholarships, facilitated by PITB and Tech Valley, have a primary goal of narrowing the digital divide by empowering individuals with valuable skills. A notable aspect of these scholarships is their inclusivity, as they are open to all, regardless of their educational background. To take advantage of this opportunity, interested individuals can submit their applications for consideration.
The comprehensive six-month training program will encompass various fields that are in high demand in today’s digital landscape. Participants will have the opportunity to specialize in areas such as IT Support, Project Management, Advanced Data Analytics, IT Automation, UX Design, Advanced Business Intelligence, Data Analysis, Digital Marketing & E-commerce, and Cybersecurity. It is important to highlight that the scholarships will be awarded through affiliated institutions.
During the application process, when you provide your information, it will be shared with these institutions. Subsequently, Sindh Governor, Kamran Khan Tessori, has unveiled an ambitious initiative to offer free IT training courses to the youth of Sindh. The objective is to train 50,000 individuals in diverse fields of Information Technology (IT). The iconic Governor House in Karachi, traditionally reserved for esteemed guests, will be repurposed to facilitate these courses. This initiative will enable young people to embark on their IT careers, regardless of having a formal degree.
Governor Tessori demonstrated his unwavering commitment to turning Karachi into a flourishing IT hub, aligning it with its reputation as Pakistan’s economic epicenter. He underscored his objective of equipping the youth with advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, metaverse, and Web 3.0. In order to guarantee the program’s success, the Governor acknowledged the invaluable expertise and assistance of IT experts Sir Zia and Daniyal Nagori, both of whom were present during a recent discussion held at the Governor’s House.
During the event, Zia praised Governor Tessori’s visionary approach and pledged his full support and assistance for the project. The collaboration between the Sindh Government and IT professionals highlights a dedicated endeavor to bridge the skills gap in the IT sector and create opportunities for the youth.
At the local level, the Sindh Government has taken initiatives, and soon after the month of Ramadan, an aptitude test will be conducted at the Governor House to select eligible candidates for the IT courses. Governor Tessori emphasized that successful completion of the training could lead graduates to earn a monthly income ranging from Rs. 300,000 to Rs. 500,000. With its spacious and underutilized rooms, the Governor House offers an ideal venue for providing IT education to ambitious young individuals.
