This Ramadan, the Pakistani audiences have become mesmerized with the Turkish Historic Epic, “Ertugrul Ghazi”, which is the story and adventures of the father of Sultan Osman I of the Ottoman Empire. The drama came to the screens on Pakistan after gaining success worldwide and in Pakistan after airing on Netflix and after PM Imran Khan recommended it to be watched by the Pakistani youth, the drama was finally dubbed in Urdu and aired on PTV.

Engin Altan Düzyatan (Ertuğrul Ghazi)

Born in İzmir, Turkey, Engin Altan Düzyatan has been acting since he was a child. Making his screen debut 1997, Engin has won many hearts across the world after portraying the character of Ertugrul Ghazi in the hit historic epic of the same name.

Being of Albanian & Yugoslavic descent himself, he joined Dokuz Eylül University to study theatre. He has been able to win many accolades including Best Actor Award at Los Angeles Movie Awards with his performance in the motion picture Bir Avuc Deniz. He is now married to Neslişah Alkoçlar for five years and the couple have a 2 children together.

Kaan Taşaner (Gündoğdu Bey)

Playing the character of the rebellious older brother, Kaan, who for his gains would discount the integrity of the tribe, Kaan delivers a stellar performance. Kaan is a famed actor of the Turkish drama industry who has previously appeared in central roles in hit series like Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne?.

Esra Bilgiç (Halima Sultan)

Mesmerizing ever since her first appearance as Halime Sultan in the series “Ertugrul”, Esra has become one of the most popular actress and model of the Turkish entertainment industry. She is currently the female lead in the Turkish crime-drama TV series Ramo, with co-stars Murat Yıldırım. She studied the subject of “International Relations” at Bilkent International University, Istanbul, and is currently studying law at İstanbul Şehir University.

Serdar Gökhan (Suleyman Shah)

Portraying the character of the leader of the Kayi tribe and father of Ertuğrul, Gündoğdu, Sungurtekin, and Dündar, grandfather of Osman Gazi I, Serdar Gökhan is the veteran actor of the Turkish drama industry who is known for his performances in movies like Killing the Shadows (2006), The Executioner (1975) and Malkoçoğlu, the Wolf Master (1972).

Hülya Korel Darcan (Hayma Hatun)

Playing the role of Mother of Ertuğrul, Gündoğdu, Sungurtekin, and Dündar, Hayma Hatun, is a sweet and sensitive women who is dutiful to his family and tribe. Like Engin Altan Düzyatan, Hulya was also born in Izmir, Turkey and is veteran actress of the Turkish drama industry.

Didem Balçın (Selcan Hatun)

Didem Balçın plays the role of the adoptive daughter and later daughter-in-law of Hayme Hatun and Suleyman Shah. This is another central character in the story. he is an actress, known for Dirilis: Ertugrul (2014), Dance with the Jackals 2 (2012) and Full of Hunger (2012). She graduated from the Theatre Department in the Faculty of Language, History and Geography at Ankara University in 2003.

Hande Subaşı (Aykuz Hatun)

Portraying one of the strongest and capable women in the serial, Aykuz is shown as the love interest of Turgut Alp and despite obstacles and duties, the lovers plan to unite once all has settled in the tribe. She is extremely good with a bow. She is a famed Turkish actress and beauty pageant titleholder. She was the winner of the 2005 Miss Turkey competition. As an actress, she has appeared in more than nine films since 2006.

Cengiz Coşkun (Turgut Alp)

Shown as one of the three Alps of Ertuğrul, together with Bamsi Beyrek and Doğan Alp who were his blood brothers, Turgut is a loyal friend and great warrior. Cengiz Coskun was born on April 29, 1982 in Istanbul, Turkey. He is an actor, known for Dirilis: Ertugrul (2014), Conquest 1453 (2012) and Dag (2012).

Nurettin Sönmez (Bamsi Beyrek)

One of the three Alps of Ertuğrul, Bamsi portrays the role of the loyal friend who stands for the integrity of the tribe. He is shown to be very emotional and somewhat slow but never with a bad intent. He reprieved his role in “Kurulus:Osman”.
