The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan announced on Tuesday that students who aspire to continue their studies in Germany now have the opportunity to apply for scholarships offered by the German support organization, Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD).
The scholarships are specifically designed for students pursuing a Master’s degree in the Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS).
In a Twitter announcement, the HEC expressed, “Through the Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) program, individuals from development and newly industrialized countries, who possess a minimum of two years of professional experience, can pursue a postgraduate or Master’s degree at a German university recognized by the state or a state-recognized institution.”

The current postgraduate courses are available in the following disciplines:
- Economic Sciences/Business Administration/Political Economics
- Development Cooperation
- Engineering and Related Sciences
- Regional and Urban Planning
- Agricultural and Forest Sciences
- Natural and Environmental Sciences
- Medicine and Public Health
- Social Sciences, Education, and Law
- Media Studies
Pakistani graduates, who have a minimum of two years of professional experience, are eligible to apply for the program. Additionally, applicants must hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree, typically obtained through a four-year-long course.
According to information provided on their website, DAAD stated that candidates applying for the program should demonstrate their motivation for development-related work. They are expected to exhibit a sense of social responsibility and be proactive in initiating and supporting processes of change in both their personal and professional environments after completing their training or scholarship.
A typical applicant for the program should be employed either by a public authority or a state or private company in a developing country. Their work should involve planning and executing directives and projects with a focus on development policies related to technological, economic, or social areas.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have achieved an academic degree with significantly above-average results (upper third) and possess a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience after obtaining their bachelor’s degree at the time of application.
It is important to note that the degrees earned by applicants should not be more than six years old. Additionally, individuals who have resided in Germany for more than 15 months will not be considered for the scholarship.
