A surprise hit Spanish show that took the world by storm in 2017 was Casa de papel or Money heist, which by many has been dubbed as the “Best Show Ever”. The show follows a genius called The Professor as he executes two mega heists with his chosen group of robbers.
Here we have listed down our favourite characters and let’s take a closer look at the personal lives of the stars of “Money Heist”.
Alvaro Morte (El Professor)
Portraying the main mastermind behind the incredibly complex heists is El Professor, who is played excellently by Alvaro Morte. Alvaro Morte is bilingual, he speaks both Spanish and English. He is wedded to Blanca Clemente, who is a stylist.
The couple has adorable fraternal twins named Juliet and Leon. He has starred in the wartime drama Love in Difficult Times and The Secret of Puente Viejo, the second longest-running show in Spanish TV history.
Úrsula Corberó (Tokyo)
Serving as the narrator to the story, Úrsula Corberó landed the character because of her energetic take on the role. She is involved in a relationship with Chiro Darin who is an Argentinian.
She grew up in Sant Pere de Vilamajor with her parents, and got her first part at age 13 and took acting classes as well as flamenco and jazz dance classes.
Itziar Ituno (Raquel Murillo)
An inspector of the National Police Corps who is put in charge of the case until she joins the group in part 3, Itizar Ituno plays the feisty character with perfection. Having a deeply personal life, it is said that the actress was married to Juan Fernandez also known as Colonel Prieto in Money Heist.
She studied acting at the Basauri Theater School. On 19 March 2020, Ituño tested positive for COVID-19, amid its pandemic in Spain.
Pedro Alonso (Berlin)
Playing the Professor’s second-in-command and brother, Pedro Alonso most iconic character of the show. Keeping his personal life strictly out of the limelight, Alonso was married to Tixie Jambass and they have a kid together. In 2018, he was chosen as “International Star of the Year” by GQ Turkey magazine.
Alba Flores (Nairobi)
Playing the role of an expert in forgery in charge of printing the money for the group, Alba Flores made us wanting for more throughout the series. Nairobi is content with her single life for now. Alba Flores is the only daughter of musician and composer Antonio Flores and Ana Villa, a theatrical producer. In 2005, Alba made her cinematic debut with Chus Gutiérrez’s El Calentito (The Warm)
Paco Tous as Agustín Ramos (Moscow)
A former miner turned criminal and Denver’s father, Tous was born in the Spanish city of Seville and raised in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz). He was awarded the Medal of Andalusia in 2018. He has two children, a boy and a girl.
Jaime Lorente (Denver)
Moscow’s son who joins him in the heist, Jaime is in a relationship with Maria Pedraza who was the prime hostage Alison Parker in the show. The couple met during the filming of Season 1 and pursued each other after the shooting ended. It has been two years since their relationship began. Lorente was born and raised in the Spanish city of Murcia located in the south-east of Spain.
Miguel Herran (Rio)
Best known for playing the roles of Aníbal “Río” Cortés in Money Heist and Christian Varela Expósito in Élite. In 2016, he won the Goya Award for Best New Actor for his role in the film Nothing in Return. The most charming and the youngest member of the gang is single as of now, the actor was previously involved in a relationship which unfortunately did not work out.
Esther Acebo (Stockholm)
Before becoming an actress, Esther was famous for being a presenter and reporter on Spanish TV. The actress has been enjoying starring in Money Heist, during the robbery, she falls in love with Denver and becomes an accomplice to the group.
With the new season already streaming on Netflix, the fans are ready for more of this amazing show.
