She said this while briefing Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday about Information Ministry’s public awareness campaign and strategy to persuade people to adopt precautionary measures against coronavirus, especially during Ramzan.
Sufficient publicity of 20 points agenda agreed with Ulema is being ensured so that the people coming to the mosques can themselves observe precautionary measures before coming to mosques, Awan said while appraising the efforts of the Prime Minister.
Earlier a week ago, President Alvi had announced that all prayer congregations at mosques and Imam Bargahs in the country will resume with strict SOPs.
The Special Assistant informed the Prime Minister about provision of protection kits and gowns to media workers deputed to cover Corona hospitals and isolation centers. The Prime Minister directed to ensure public awareness campaign regarding observing precautionary measures.
On the account that opening mosques in Ramadan will increase the number of coronavirus cases in the country, Religious Affairs Minister Noorul Haq Qadri said that the government should restore the ban on mass prayers if they cause a spike in infections.
Officials have recorded more than 2.5 million cases and more than 180,000 deaths worldwide since the virus emerged in China in December.
