Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has revealed a dozen mineral water bottle brands in the nation as unsafe for human to drink due to many reasons, which includes existence of low level pH, high level of sodium and high level of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and Microbiologically impurities in these branded water bottles.
According to the public awareness report provided by PCRWR, almost 108 mineral water brands were collected and tested for any contamination from various major cities around the country, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Sargodha and many other.
After testing each and every water bottle samples gathered from different cities against all water quality parameters, which ensures the purity of water, twelve brands resulted out to be chemically unsafe for human beings and do not meet the merit set by the World Health Organization (WHO), International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), and Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA).
Mineral water bottle brands, which have been enlisted by the PCRWR and declared harmful for human consumption are mentioned below:
- Chenab
- Alpha 7 star
- Blue Plus
- Aqua Best
- Dista Water
- Hibba
- Ziran
- YK Pure
- DJOUR
- Pure
- MM Blue Spring
- Leven Star
Water brands such as Ziran, MM Pure, Blue Spring, Aqua Best, Blue Plus, Alpha 7 star, YK Pure, Leven Star, and Hibba mentioned in the above list of contaminated water bottle brands, carries dangerous level quantities of sodium which becomes the source of hypertension in a human. On the other hand, MM Pure and Blue Spring has enormous amount of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).
Drinking such water that contains such harmful elements, high level of pH or TDS can be extremely dangerous and can cause several severe Health issues like diarrhea, kidney damage, hypertension and parasites.
