Despite being the largest and most populated city in Pakistan, Karachi has been facing the absence of a proper public transportation system for decades. In history, many public transportation projects were promised by the Government but due to negligence of the authorities, each project failed to complete and the public had to fulfill their need via old and ill-maintained wagons, and mini and full-sized buses owned by private transporters.
However, times have changed since the launch of the long-awaited Green Line BRT and Orange Line project by the federal and provincial governments. After these big BRT projects, Karachi citizens are expecting the inauguration of Red Line Metrobus systems soon as well. With such advanced, comfortable and affordable transportation systems being launched in the city, people have finally found some peace in their hearts.
But besides these large-scale BRT projects, to facilitate Karachiites even more, the Sindh government has recently introduced the People’s Bus Service in Karachi and Larkana.
