Faysal Bank's Manager Arrested for Sexually Harassing a Women in Islamabad

On Sunday, it was confirmed by Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari that the accused Faysal Bank employee has fired by the bank and has been arrested by the Islamabad Police over sexual harassment.

 

A clip was viral on social media where an employee of Faysal Bank was caught on camera harassing a coworker.

The person was identified as “Usman Gohar,” age under thirties. The video clearly shows him groping her coworker as she was standing by his desk and he sat down on his chair as if nothing happened.

The minister applauded the performance of federal capital authorities including police for its quick action, through a tweet when she was informed about Usman’s arrest by the Deputy Commissioner of capital, Hamza Shafqat. Shireen Mazari also shared a photo after Usman’s arrest in which his face was blurred and he was standing by the police officer who arrested him.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan’s regulations, DC Islamabad just before the minister’s tweet announcement that Usman cannot be rehired by any other bank of Pakistan. He further added, “Police raided his house. The culprit has turned his cell off and his hiding for the last 3 hours. One special team is searching for him.”

Just after his arrest Deputy Inspector General of Police for operations also announced that the further necessary legal action against Usman Gohar has been taken place.

A statement was also released from Faysal Bank terminating Usman Gohar effective immediately and clarified that Usman was not a brank manager just an employee as it was circulated across social media that he was a branch manager.

Faysal Bank statement stated that “Faysal Bank strongly condemns such an individual act of unprofessional behavior and #workplaceharassment by an employee, which is contrary to the strong value system, ethical standards, and professional work environment being maintained by the Bank for all its employees.”
