Sonya Hussyn to star in ‘Lockdown’ Pakistani movie based on Coronavirus

Sonya Hussyn has replaced actress Faryal Mehmood in an upcoming flick “Lockdown”. Gohar Rasheed and Faryal Mehmood were all set to work in the movie that was going to be about lockdown but director Abu Aleha has revealed that there the female protagonist has been changed.

According to Abu Aleha, “We now have Sonya Hussyn and it’s officially confirmed.” The movie is essentially a love story between the two characters and how the lockdown impacts their lives. The film is based on the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown that has currently been implemented globally.

Gohar had previously shared that the film shows “how a simple couple gets affected by the horror of Covid-19 and the repercussions of lockdown.”

Faryal Mehmood had left the project due to scheduling conflicts and personal commitments.“Faryal has left the project because the character became so difficult that there was a need for workshops and due to her personal issues like marriage and health, she couldn’t give us time required for this role,” Aleha told Dawn Images.

Faryal also shared with a magazine that “I backed out because I was under the weather… The shoot is really intense and dates were not flexible.”

The movie, scripted by Abida Ahmed, will most likely be released on a digital platform like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. “We have commitments ahead to OTT platforms that require us to have these shoots done in specific time and way, so we couldn’t postpone.” Said the director

The release date is yet to be announced but the shooting is already underway.
