Mehwish Hayat defends airing of ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’ in Pakistan

After many celebrities have criticized the airing of “Ertugrul Ghazi” on Pakistani Television Screens, celebrities like Mehwish Hayat have come forward in support of Turkish historical drama serial Ertugrul Ghazi being aired on state-run television (PTV) in Urdu language.

The superstar took to twitter to express her opinion in favour of the Turkish Historic Epic, she captioned, “I don’t know what the fuss is all abt? At the end of the day lets accept Dirilis #Ertugrul for wht it is; an educational drama series which has historical significance & gr8 moral lessons”.

She also went on to say, “I think Engin Altan Düzyatan is pretty hot. A bit like Leonardo Di Caprio no?#crushupdated”

Mehwish Hayat winning the 9th position in the list is one of the most celebrated actress in the country and has been honoured with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, the highest ranking National honour for service in the Entertainment Industry.

Many celebrities like Yasir Hussain and Shan Shahid have come out criticizing the airing of Ertugrul Ghazi, saying that the foreign content is affecting the Pakistani content itsekf and maybe the Government should fund projects that depict Islamic history themselves.

This Ramadan, the Pakistani audiences have become mesmerized with the Turkish Historic Epic, “Ertugrul Ghazi”, which is the story and adventures of the father of Sultan Osman I of the Ottoman Empire.

The drama came to the screens on Pakistan after gaining success worldwide and in Pakistan after airing on Netflix and after PM Imran Khan recommended it to be watched by the Pakistani youth, the drama was finally dubbed in Urdu and aired on PTV.
